The RMS Titanic is a British ocean liner built for the White Star Line shipping line. The launch took place on May 30, 1911 at the Harland and Wolff shipyard. Hailed as a marvel of marine engineering, the Titanic was considered unsinkable. This legend turned out to be untrue during its maiden voyage, when the liner hit an iceberg in the North Atlantic and sank along with around 1,500 people on the night of April 14-15, 1912. It was one of the most spectacular sea disasters of the 20th century. Technical data: displacement (full): 46300t, length: 269m, width: 29.41m, draft: 10.5m, maximum speed: 24w., Crew: 892 and 1324 passengers.
