Autozam AZ-1 (another designation: Mazda PG6SA) is a Japanese sports car from the kei-car segment, which was first presented in 1989. Its serial production was carried out in the years 1992-1994. About 4,400 cars designated as Autozam AZ-1 were produced in its course.
The AZ-1 model was developed by the Suzuki Motor Corporation, but was sold to Mazda under the Autozam brand. It was a highly unusual car. It had the so-called gull door, i.e. the door to the passenger compartment that opens upwards, not sideways. The drive was a Mazda Carol engine with a capacity of 0.65 litres and a power of 64 HP. Unfortunately, despite interesting design solutions, Autozam AZ-1 lost the market battle with Honda Beat or Suzuki Cappuccino cars. Much of this was due to the economic recession in Japan when the AZ-1 was launched
