TBM-3 is the last major modification of the Avenger series. Production began in 1943. Except for one prototype produced by Grumman, the remaining 4,664 aircraft were produced and modified by General Motors. This model was modified with the R2800-20 engine. The flight performance was restored or even improved after the weight was increased. From the outside, the oil radiator of the nose was placed in two places, the throttle plate of the engine cover was increased to 8 pieces, and rockets became standard weapons. Some of them were equipped with ASD-1 radar nacelles under the left wing. Some TBM-3s were specially responsible for attacking underwater submarines, and ASP-4 radar nacelles were hung under the right wing.
