The Me163 was the only rocket-powered fighter jet to be used in combat in World War II. The Me163 project began in 1937. The project, chaired by Mr. Alexander Lipes, aims to study the manufacture of a rocket engine-powered indigenous defence fighter. The first prototype was tested in 1941, but the range of the aircraft was very limited due to the limitation of the body structure and power mode. In August 1943, the improved production Me163B appeared, officially put into production in April 1944, and delivered to the troops before the end of the war. 279
