The Su-27 "Flanker" is a single-seat twin-engine Mach 2 fighter designed by the Sukhoi Design Bureau in the former Soviet Union. It takes the US's third-generation fighter jets as a direct imaginary enemy, has a range of up to 3,530 kilometres, can carry a large number of weapons, has complex avionics and high mobility. The Su-27 is usually used for air supremacy missions, but can also participate in all combat operations to make up for the smaller MiG-29. The closest U.S. fighter to the Su-27 is the F-15 Eagle ".
Several variants have been developed based on the Su-27. The Su-30 is a two-seat all-weather fighter that can perform a variety of air-to-air and air-to-ground interdiction missions.
