Detailed 1/48 scale assembly model kit of the Grumman F9F Panther, a Korean War era carrier based jet fighter of the United States Navy and Marine Corps. Introduced in 1946, the F9F was the most widely used U.S. Navy jet fighter of the Korean War, flying some 78,000 sorties, and the F9F was also credited with the first air kill of the Korean War, downing a North Korean Yak-9 fighter on 3 July 1950. U.S. Navy and Marine Corps F9F Panthers remained in frontline service until 1956, and the F9Fs were also flown by the United States Navy's Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, popularly known as the Blue Angels until 1957.
