The Hermann Marwede has been in service since summer 2003 and is stationed on Heligoland. It is a symbol of the heroic history of the German Maritime Search and Rescue Service (DGzRS), which has rescued over 76,000 people since it was founded in 1865. With a maximum speed of 25 knots and equipped with an on board hospital, crane, dinghy and helicopter deck, this ship represents the pinnacle of modern sea rescue.
