The Puma armored infantry combat vehicle was developed by PSM (Projekt System & Management) in Germany. It was developed in the later half of the 1980s, but due to financial difficulties brought on by the unification of East and West Germany and the collapse of the Soviet Union, its deployment was delayed until the 21st century, and redesign and production of the Puma began in earnest in the 2000s. A prototype was completed in 2005, and a total of 410 of this vehicle will be deployed to the German Federal Army from 2010 through 2020.
It is equipped with a MK30-2/ABM 30mm machine artillery mounted on an unmanned remote control turret; its secondary armament is the MG4 light machine gun and 6-unit 76mm grenade launcher. Its 1,088hp output V-type 10-cylinder liquid-cooled diesel engine gives it a maximum cruising speed of 70km/h, with a cruising distance of 600km. Its crew consists of 3, and 6 more soldiers can be carried in the troop compartment.
