The Shelby registry indicates only two 1966 "Super Snake" Cobras were built. One car was destroyed in an accident, leaving a sole surviving car. January 13, 2007 it sold at the Barrett-Jackson auction for 5.5 million dollars, making it the most expensive American car ever sold. The "Super Snake" has a twin supercharged 427 cid 800 hp engine, with a 3 speed automatic. Carroll Shelby built it just to see how fast it was, and it turned out to be a monster with incredible performance and speeds. It was Carroll Shelby's personal automobile
