The M29 Weasel was developed in the United States during World War II as a snow vehicle for use in special operations on snow, and its official name was the M29 transport vehicle.

It was deployed to Europe, the Pacific, and Alaska as a vehicle that could be used not only on snow but also in mud, sand, swamps, and other areas where it would be difficult for conventional armored vehicles to operate, and operated as a multi-purpose vehicle that could be used for various purposes, including light transport, command, communication, ambulance, and telephone line laying.
