Awesome Italian-born masterpiece self-propelled artillery
Among the weapons operated by the Italian army during World War II, the Semovente M40 da75 / 18, a self-propelled artillery based on the M13 / 40 medium tank, gained trust as the most successful vehicle. The M42 da 75/34 is a further improvement and development of this self-propelled gun. The M15 / 42 medium tank with improved engine output had been newly selected for the base of the body, and was equipped with a long-barrelled 34-caliber 75mm gun with excellent penetration. Mass production began in the spring of 1943, but due to the surrender of Italy in September of the same year, many were put into operation as equipment for the German army. The M42 da75 / 34, which was mainly deployed in the anti-tank unit of the infantry division, utilised the power of the low body and long-barrelled 75mm gun to demonstrate its power in ambush attacks. It continued to fight until May 1945, when the German army on the Italian front surrendered.
