The Frog-7 tactical rocket, officially code-named 9K52 "Moon-M", is a Soviet-made short-range tactical rocket system. "Moon-M" has no guidance system and relies on the spin of the projectile to maintain stability. 9K52 is the design code of the General Directorate of Missiles and Artillery of the Soviet Ministry of Defence, and its NATO code name is "Frog-7". The name "Frog" comes from the "Free-Rocket-Over-Ground" in the NATO classification. The "Frog-7" rocket is mounted on a 9P113 wheeled three-purpose launch vehicle. This launch, the car was converted from a ZIL-135 8x8 military truck. A large hydraulic crane for loading rockets from a 9T29 ammunition carrier (also converted from ZIL-135) is mounted on the three-purpose vehicle. "Frog-7" Type A and Type B both have a maximum range of 70km and a circular calculation deviation (CEP) of 500m-700m. This road-mobile tactical rocket has a 550kg warhead and can carry conventional high-explosive, nuclear and chemical warheads. The "Frog-7" was first commissioned in 1965 and was widely deployed in the Soviet Union's allies and exported in large quantities. Many countries own the "Frog-7" rocket.
After the Iran-Iraq war, Iraq improved the "Frog-7" rocket in stock, increasing the range to 90km, and replacing it with sub-munition warheads. This rocket is called "Laith-90" (Laith-90).
